The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) will postpone enforcement of a proposed ban on bisphenols, including bisphenol A (BPA, 80-05-7), in food contact materials. The FSA was originally planning to align the UK with the EU’s bisphenol ban from July 20, 2026. The FSA had a comment period in early 2026. After lobbying from the Foodservice Equipment Association, which warned that the timetable could cause economic and environmental damage, the FSA said there will be “no enforcement” until domestic legislation is introduced, though it still intends to bring in a ban in the UK.
