Joel’s goal is to make science accessible to decision-makers. Holding a BSc and MSc in earth and climate sciences from ETH Zurich, he enjoys understanding and breaking down complex information into more digestible pieces. Ever since designing a student newspaper in middle school, he has kept an affinity for design and layout, and he now combines this with his academic background to effectively communicate outside the scientific bubble. Joel’s easygoing, flexible, and creative approach allows him to thrive in the dynamic environment of science communication.

As Communications Officer at the Food Packaging Forum, Joel manages public-facing communications and outreach efforts. His work focuses on tracking and reporting current events and policy updates and maintaining the Food Packaging Forum’s digital presence. Since joining in 2023, he has contributed significantly to the social media success of the Food Packaging Forum through the weekly “Fact Bites” series, which distills complex scientific information into engaging, bite-sized pieces.
