In an article published on August 23, 2018, regulatory news provider Chemical Watch informed that Sweden will introduce mandatory reporting of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) when notifying products to the country’s product register. The Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) has notified the EU of the new obligation in July 2018 and now announced that the rule is foreseen to enter into force on January 1, 2019. Companies will then have to provide information on PFASs in their products by February 2020.
The purpose of the reporting requirement is to better understand how PFASs are used and assess what measures are needed to protect human health and the environment, KEMI explained in its press release.
