Flexible packaging in the circular economy

Flexible packaging value chain launches CEFLEX project, aiming to improve packaging design, increase collection and recycling

In article published on May 11, 2017 news provider Plastics News Europe (PNE) informs about a new project, CEFLEX, organized by a consortium of European companies representing the entire value chain of flexible packaging. CEFLEX’s (Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging) visions include: 1) Achieving recognition of flexible packaging for the value it adds to the circular economy and 2) developing an established collection, sorting, and reprocessing infrastructure/economy for post-consumer flexible packaging across Europe by 2025.

The project consortium currently consists of 34 stakeholders, representing raw materials suppliers, packaging converters, brand owners and retailers, producer responsibility organizations, collectors, sorters and recyclers, and other technology suppliers as well as end users of secondary raw materials.
