On November 28-30, 2017, the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact Materials, Enzymes, Flavorings and Processing Aids (CEF Panel) held its 72nd plenary meeting in Parma, Italy (FPF reported). Most items on the meeting agenda were open to observers. EFSA informed that during the meeting, the CEF Panel discussed and endorsed the scientific protocol for the upcoming safety reassessment of bisphenol A (BPA, CAS 80-05-7) (FPF reported). The new hazard assessment of BPA is scheduled to start in 2018.
