On January 12, 2017 the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added four new substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the Candidate List for authorization: 1) Bisphenol A (BPA, CAS 80-05-7), 2) nonadecafluorodecanoic acid (PFDA) and its sodium and ammonium salts (CAS 335-76-2, 3830-45-3, 3108-42-7), 3) 4-heptylphenol, branched and linear (4-HPbl, CAS 1987-50-4, 72624-02-3), and 4) 4-tert-pentylphenol (PTAP, CAS 80-46-6). In December 2016, ECHA’s Member State Committee had unanimously agreed on the identification of these four substances as SVHCs (FPF reported). The Candidate List now includes 173 substances.
