In an opinion piece published May 5, 2014 by the U.S. newspaper The Missoulian Robin Saha, member of the board of directors of the Montana Conservation Voters, calls upon the drugstore chain Walgreens to remove toxic chemicals from its products. Saha refers to a petition which was opened by the non-governmental organization (NGO) Safer Chemicals Healthy Families on April 16, 2014. In her piece, Saha points to a study by the NGO Healthystuff that found pththalates, organotins and heavy metals in products sold by Walgreens in the U.S. and criticizes that Walgreens does not have a comprehensive chemicals policy in the U.S. like it does in Europe.
