EU plastics industry holds event on circular economy

Various plastic industry associations and initiatives jointly hosted first annual event to report and discuss their progress in circular practices with different stakeholders

In a joint press release published on December 11, 2018, 13 different European plastics industry associations and initiatives reported on their first annual event entitled “The EU plastics industries – Towards circularity”. At the event, presenters outlined their “extensive and ambitious set of voluntary measures to close the loop for plastics.” Some also noted the “negative impacts of the proposed single-use plastics Directive on businesses and employment in the European Union” (FPF reported). The event will be organized annually “to guarantee an open and public reporting and transparent dialogue with stakeholders on the industry’s progress.”
