French Ministry delays deadline for nanomaterial registrations

The first country to legally require declaration of nanomaterial use delays deadline for submission

The French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy extended the deadline for reporting the manufacture, distribution and import of nanomaterials from May 1, 2013 to June 30, 2013. Under Decree No. 2012-232 manufacturers, distributors or importers of nanoscale materials must submit an annual report with the French Agency for Food Safety, the Environment and Labor (ANSES). Originally, the first reporting deadline was set for April 30, 2013, but now the Ministry concluded that a later deadline would be granted with due consideration of the variety of industries affected by the decree.
