German Institute for Risk Assessment announces cooperation with Fraunhofer Institutes to increase safety along the food chain

On May 7, 2014 the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) announced in a press release that the Fraunhofer Association will become a research partner in a cooperation aiming to ensure safety along the food chain. The BfR will cooperate in particular with those Fraunhofer Institutes which form part of the “Food Chain Management” alliance. The main areas of cooperation include logistics, traceability, contamination and analysis of food products. Both research projects and events will be organized in the framework of the new cooperation. As such, the cooperation is to build and extend previous collaborations between the BfR and individual Fraunhofer Institutes.
