World Circular Economy Forum 2019

Conference in Helsinki, Finland focuses on discussing how to scale up transition to circular economy, includes session on plastics and circular bioeconomy

On June 3-5, 2019, the World Circular Economy Forum took place in Helsinki, Finland with a “strong emphasis on the next era of the circular economy and scaling up the transition.” The conference included talks and discussions on the circular economy across many industry sectors. Specifically related to packaging and materials, one session was titled “Plastics and a circular bioeconomy” and included presentations by the non-governmental organization the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, drink manufacturer the Carlsberg Group, recycling equipment manufacturer Tomra, and the China Plastics Reuse and Recycling Association. The session was described as discussing “the circular and bioeconomy solutions to the plastics problem and shed[ding] light on why this topic is so controversial.”

The conference was developed and operated by The Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. Recordings of presentations given during the conference are available for viewing on the event’s website.
