What chemicals are in plastic packaging? What is their toxicity, and which are the most concerning? The Hazardous Chemicals in Plastic Packaging (HCPP) project set out to identify this. During this day-long event, project participants reported on the project’s findings including knowns and pertinent knowledge gaps, highlighted environmental and human health risks related to priority plastic packaging chemicals, opportunities for and barriers to substitution of hazardous chemicals, and socio-economic costs of using hazardous substances in plastic packaging.

The event looked into answering another important question: What does this all mean in the context of the circular economy? Stakeholders at the event shared their experiences and discussed the way forward.

Presentations from the event were recorded and are available below. Financial support for the project was provided by the MAVA Foundation.
