On June 26, 2018, at 02:00 pm CEST (Central European Summer Time), the Food Packaging Forum (FPF) held a public webinar on the challenges for food packaging in the circular economy.
In May 2018, a peer-reviewed article on food packaging in the circular economy was published in the Journal of Cleaner Production (FPF reported). The authors from the Food Packaging Forum (FPF), Zurich, Switzerland, report on recycling of five types of commonly used food packaging, but also discuss reuse, reduction, and redesign as further measures supporting the aims of the circular economy. A special focus of the publication is on the safety of recycled materials, with particular attention being paid to typical contaminants.
Dr. Birgit Geueke of the FPF presented the paper’s background, methodology and key findings. The presentation was followed by an interactive Q&A session.
