On April 20, 2016 the European Commission’s (EC) Technical Expert Group for Food Contact Materials (FCMs) held their latest meeting in Brussels, Belgium. The draft agenda of the meeting included the amendment of the plastic FCM regulation ((EU) No 10/2011) (FPF reported), authorization of recycling processes, as well as other business. The next meeting of the expert group is scheduled for September 9, 2016 and points of discussion will include migration testing guidelines, the 7th amendment of the plastic FCM regulation, and the consequences of the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) scientific opinion on the safety assessment of FCMs (FPF reported).
