EFSA BPA re-evaluation: 11th meeting

EFSA CEP Panel publishes minutes of the 11th meeting of its working group on bisphenol A safety re-evaluation; experts discuss draft technical report of pilot phase, review results from ongoing evaluation of papers, identify need for expertise in toxicokinetic modeling

The European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Panel on Food Contact materials, Enzymes and Processing Aids (CEP Panel) published the minutes of the 11th meeting of its Working Group (WG) on BPA re-evaluation held on July 4, 2019, in Parma, Italy.

During the 11th meeting, the experts discussed the “the draft technical report summarizing the outcome of the pilot phase for testing the 2017 appraisal methodology.” Results of the latest paper appraisals were discussed and conflicts were resolved. New evaluations were assigned for the next WG meeting, and “the need of additional expertise in the working group in the field of toxicokinetic and PBPK [(physiologically based pharmacokinetic)] modelling was identified.”

The next meeting was scheduled to be held on September 3-4, 2019 in Parma, Italy.
