In an article published on April 2, 2019, the Virtual-Strategy Magazine informed that the Thai Industrial Standards Institute, Ministry of Industry, notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of the “Draft Thai Industrial Standard for Melamine-formaldehyde, Urea-formaldehyde and Melamine-urea-formaldehyde Utensils for Food.” The proposed standard defines safety requirements for three thermoset plastics derived from formaldehyde, including overall as well as specific migration limits for formaldehyde, melamine, and nine heavy metals.
