On May 25, 2016 the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy initiative commenced its activities with an inaugural workshop bringing together over 40 leading companies such as Amcor, Coca-Cola, and Unilever. The three-year initiative builds on the recommendations of the report “The new plastics economy: Rethinking the future of plastics” which was published in January 2016 (FPF reported). The initiative’s aim is to take “a concrete first step towards the design of a plastics system grounded in circular economy principles.”
