Justin Boucher

Operations Director

Justin is the Operations Director at the Food Packaging Forum and is responsible for coordinating the use of resources and implementing the Forum’s strategy. He also works to develop effective public communications and science-policy outreach efforts.

Justin enjoys applying his love for structure, optimization, and problem-solving to help organizations operate better and achieve greater impact. He holds a BSc and MSc in environmental engineering from North Carolina State University and ETH Zurich respectively. Following his studies, he spent five years working as an academic research scientist investigating the spread of PFAS in the environment and translating the science to inform policy responses. Justin was inspired to pursue a career in environmental and human health after seeing the health impacts of exposure to hazardous chemicals firsthand. He hopes to help society consider the real impacts of product and lifestyle choices on health by better communicating the scientific evidence.

As Operations Director at the Food Packaging Forum, Justin leads and supports a range of activities to ensure that the organization can run effectively in terms of resources, financial and legal compliance, communications, and operational strategy. He works closely with the Managing Director, Board of Directors, and communications team. He also leads collaborative cross-sector science policy working groups, contributes to international policy meetings, and coordinates IT service providers and legal reviews. Since joining the Food Packaging Forum in 2019, Justin has helped to develop and launch the first BRID database, expand the UP Scorecard Chemicals of Concern metric, implement digital tools to simplify payments and improve project planning, and support global policymakers during UN meetings and negotiations.
