
Dr. Birgit Geueke
Senior Scientific Manager
Birgit is the Senior Scientific Manager at the Food Packaging Forum and is deeply involved in investigating the chemical safety of packaging materials, including chemical migration and recycling. She leads scientific studies and develops the Food Packaging Forum’s scientific databases.
Birgit is a scientific researcher who enjoys making scientific evidence available to the wider public. She holds a PhD in microbiology from the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf, where she focused on biocatalysis for organic synthesis. She then completed postgraduate work at the Research Center Jülich before joining Eawag (the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology) as a scientist. Birgit enjoys collaborating with scientists from all over the world, sharing her research experience, and learning from other players in food contact materials. Through her work, she hopes to make food packaging and food contact materials safer.
As Senior Scientific Manager at the Food Packaging Forum, Birgit leads scientific studies and generates content that can be used in communications. She is currently co-lead for the FCCH project, including FCCmigex and FCChumon, and supports many other research projects across the Food Packaging Forum. Birgit joined the team in 2013 and is proud of all the databases she has worked on over the last 10+ years and the wide public recognition they have received.
