On March 4, 2021, the civil society organization Health Care Without Harm held a webinar on the risks posed by hazardous substances that can be present in food contact materials used by foodservice providers in the health care industry. The webinar featured presentations from Jane Muncke of the Food Packaging Forum, Alexis Percival of Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust, and Murielle Tauran and Dominique Licaud from CH Angoulême. The speakers provided an overview of the environmental and human health impacts of FCMs and how these can be addressed via procurement practices in the healthcare industry. Two healthcare facilities also shared their learned best practices on reducing single-use plastics in their food services.
